What's involved?
We chant the A-U-M 108 times, i.e. a full mala, which takes about 30 minutes. (A mala is a prayer necklace commonly used in the East containing 108 beads). After this there is a period of silence for contemplation followed by a group prayer. This month we will direct the energy invoked through the chanting to help bring devic balance and harmony, and to support all the firefighters and front-line workers in Los Angeles, as well as bring healing, support and strength to all the people who are suffering devastating loss and injury.
Who can attend?
Anyone who has been initiated into the A-U-M is welcome to join in. If you are interested, but have yet to be initiated, you can listen to the initiation online or reply to this email for more information.
Why chant this mantra?
Dr. George King said in "The A-U-M" lecture:
"Occasionally, you do get some psychic interference. The A-U-M is a good protection. And also it is a marvellous protection against your own evil instincts—which do exist—rising up and taking partial control of you. I do not know of anyone who can sit down and repeat the A-U-M for five or six minutes, and then suddenly jump up and have very, very nasty, evil, greedy thoughts, or thoughts of great jealousy. Because, after the repetition of this wonderful sacred Word, the whole of their vibrations change—and the whole of their being changes."
